Frequently Asked Questions
The tuner isn’t detecting any sound
Aurora needs microphone access to hear your instrument. Make sure you granted permission when prompted, or enable it in your device settings under the app’s permissions. Also check that no other app is currently using the microphone.
How do I give microphone permission?
On iOS: Settings → Aurora Guitar Tuner → enable Microphone. On Android: Settings → Apps → Aurora Guitar Tuner → Permissions → Microphone. Then reopen the app.
The readings seem jumpy or inaccurate
Background noise can affect pitch detection. Try tuning in a quieter space, play a single string at a time, and let the note ring clearly. Keep your device a comfortable distance from the instrument so the microphone isn’t overloaded.
Does Aurora record or share my audio?
No. All audio is processed in real time on your device to detect pitch. Nothing is recorded, stored, or transmitted. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can I tune instruments other than guitar?
Yes. Aurora uses chromatic pitch detection, so it works with bass, ukulele, violin, and many other instruments.
